COMMENTS: The drama film "The Journey" explores themes of reconciliation, peace, religious, political and ideological differences, compromise, challenges in organising and agreeing on negotiations, dealing with difficult political characters, relations, political unrest and conflict, peace talks, intergovernmental negotiations for peace and forgiveness. These themes are complex and mature and presented in the context of real historical events about the peace talks that took place between former Irish Republican Army and Democratic Unionist factions representatives in 2006 following years of armed conflict in Northern Ireland. Themes are presented in a realistic and sensitive manner and contain historical value, contain positive messages promoting reconciliation and peace and have positive resolutions. However, the themes may be too complex for children 10 years to comprehend, and they may find them confusing and therefore unsettling. An age restriction of at least 10 years is therefore advised, and parental guidance for children between 10 to 12 years in order to help explain context and counteract any possible negative effects.
